We love burgers and it’s hard to beat a classic cheeseburger, but these Teriyaki Chicken Burgers pack some pretty amazing flavors. Boldly flavored and simply dressed on a puffy sesame burger bun, this recipe is a delicious spin on a classic. The most amazing thing about flavors you enjoy is you can translate it into other forms. I love chicken teriyaki chicken and rice bowls. The flavor is perfectly punchy yet simple all at the same time.
The grocery list.
- Ground chicken – Sometimes ground chicken can be hard to find at the store. Ground turkey is a good substitute if that’s the case when you shop for this recipe.
- Garlic, minced – Teriyaki is the star of the show in this dish when it comes to flavor. However, garlic
- Fresh ginger – Fresh ginger adds a kick to these burgers.
- Mayonnaise – Mayonnaise is a binding agent for your burgers.
- Teriyaki sauce – Teriyaki sauce has such a delectable powerful umami flavor.
- Green onion – Green onions add a delicious crunch to these burgers.
- Cilantro – If you hate cilantro, are you ok?
- Sesame seeds – I like to sprinkle some sesame seeds on top of my burger before adding lettuce and the top bun for some extra texture.
- Butter lettuce – Butter lettuce is so tender. I love topping burgers with at least one type of produce for some freshness. The slight crunch from this butter lettuce is unbeatable!
- Sesame burger buns – Something about a sesame bun makes a burger taste 100 times better.
The preparation.
Preheat the grill to medium heat (to around 375/400°F).
Make the burger mixture. In a large bowl combine the ground chicken, garlic, fresh ginger, mayonnaise, ¼ cup teriyaki sauce, green onion and cilantro. Work the mixture with your hands until well combined. Divide the mixture into 6-8 burgers.
Place the burgers directly on the grill grates of the preheated grill. Adding food directly to the grill grates will give it a beautiful char. Grill for 5-7 minutes before flipping. Flip the burgers and grill for another 3-5 minutes until the burgers are fully cooked.
Remove the burgers from the grill. Build the burgers by placing the burgers on the bottom buns. Drizzle each burger with additional teriyaki sauce, sprinkle with sesame seeds and top with butter lettuce for the perfect crunch. Place the top bun on top and serve.
