Traeger Nectarine Crisp

In need of an easy summertime dessert recipe? This Traeger Nectarine Crisp is exactly what you’re looking for! With tender and sweet fresh fruit and a crunchy and buttery brown sugar oat topping, this summertime version of a favorite fall dessert is what’s missing at your cookout. Who says crisps are a fall dessert? They should be enjoyed year-round!

The grocery list.

The preparation.

Start by preheating the Traeger Grill (or oven) to 350°F.

If you’ve looked at or made any of my Traeger recipes, you know that anything that can be cooked or baked in the oven can also be prepared on the grill.

Personally, I love baking with my Traeger, especially during the summer when it’s too hot inside to even think about turning on the oven and spending time in a sweltering kitchen!

I have found that the Traeger takes longer to heat since it is much larger than the oven, so keep that in mind when using your grill.

Prepare the filling.

To make the filling for your Traeger Nectarine Crisp, add the sliced nectarines, 1/4 cup brown sugar, lemon juice and cornstarch to a cast iron skillet. Toss the nectarines until they are fully coated.

Prepare the topping.

To a medium glass bowl, add the quick-cook oats, salt, ground cinnamon, cardamom and the remaining brown sugar. Mix to combine. Melt your butter on low heat so it doesn’t burn. Then, add the melted butter to your oats mixture. Mix until all the oats are coated.

Assemble your Traeger Nectarine Crisp.

Your nectarine filling should already be in the cast iron skillet. Top the nectarines with the buttery oat mixture. Bake your Traeger Nectarine Crisp in the Traeger (or oven) for 40 minutes, until it’s bubbly and golden brown.

Cool for 10 minutes before serving. This brief cooling period gives it time to settle. After the 10 minutes, I recommend enjoying your Traeger Nectarine Crisp immediately, while it’s still warm, with a heaping scoop of Extra Creamy Vanilla Ice Cream

Storing options.

I prefer to store this recipe at room temperature, rather than in the refrigerator. If you plan on storing it in any sort of airtight container, wait until it is fully cooled before placing it in the container. You can also leave it in the cast iron pan and place it within your cooled oven until you’re ready to enjoy it again.
